To Be or Not to Be - Airbrush Makeup Vs. Traditional Makeup

So we get A LOT of inquiries weekly for booking us potentially for hair and makeup services, we are blessed....
But One of the Main Questions that We Ask You is:

"Do you want Airbrush or Traditional Makeup Application?"

The Question in Return:

"I am not sure, I really don't know what the difference is?"

Here is the Carpe Diem Bride Perspective, Why should you pay $50 more for airbrush makeup application?  Why should you save $50 and get traditional application?  Well lets weigh out the variables!

Let's Talk Traditional First:
In traditional application, makeup artists apply everything the traditional way, hence the word - "traditional";  applied with mainly brushes, sometimes sponges and fingers.  Some makeup artists truly prefer to apply makeup this way because it is forgiving, easy to touch up, and makeup artists, like any artist love to work with their hands, like in painting on canvas for instance.  The artists at Carpe Diem Bride do use water-resistant makeup, so rest assure, if you decide to go the traditional way and you do tend to cry on Wedding Day as some do, your makeup will be in place and should remain with freshness up to 6 hours! (Well, let's be honest unless you shower yourself in uncontrollable tears or happen to get rained on it in a massive rain storm IT may smudge a bit...common sense should be used when  referring to ANY makeup application and it's uphold...ha) Needless to say, there is nothing wrong with booking traditional application, if you book a great makeup artist that is! OK! Moving on..

Let's Talk Airbrush:
In applying airbrush, it is used with an airbrush machine which pushes out the makeup lightly misting the face with foundation.  Airbrush covers pores very evenly, provides full coverage, and when we say it stays - IT STAYS!  Our Airbrush Products will not come off until you wash it off.  It provides a very light wear, and it has a great HD finish which is fantastic for photos and digital photography!  (your photographers love it too because it will cut their post-production time and edits in half)  This is great if you have any skin imperfections, sun damage, or acne...it provides you with a nice even finish.  Some brides think the whole process, eyes, lips, cheeks and face is all done by airbrush.  Yes, it can all be applied that way BUT We do the eyes/lips the ol' traditional way, although it's great to have a machine to push makeup on, there is nothing better than to do eyes with brushes...this is the only way to get variety in color for outstanding eyes!  But, airbrush is applied for foundation, contouring, highlighting, and blush!  Our products are water-resistant as well, so hey criers, don't won't worry...we make sure you are taken care of and you look fresh and gorgeous ALL DAY/NIGHT LONG!  Above all, airbrush does sort of provide this experience of getting something different and special, which I think this is why it is popular amongst our brides, it's their day, and they want a luxury experience!

So should you book the airbrush or just keep it traditional?  We leave this up to our brides, we do not sway you into one thing or the other although we do try to give you the best advice in our Trial Run/Consultations that we can.  We are very honest, but only you know what you can do, would like to do and what you can afford to do.  Either choices are great, we will give you a great experience and fabulous makeup either way you go.  We just want to offer you choices in your packaging, and to give you options!

I hope this helps!  Please don't hesitate to contact us with any further question you may have, we are here to help, and we are here to give you the best experience you can have on your Big Day!  When booking us, you should know you don't have to worry about nothing but relaxing and enjoying getting beautified!

Meet Danielle!

We felt that we really needed to post these gorgeous pictures of Danielle and her fiance Ross!  Danielle is our future Bride for July 21st.  We met her last month for her Trial Run, she lives in Beaumont, TX!  We got to meet her sweet Mom and Grandmother as well, and had such a great time with them...and Danielle's natural beauty was breath-taking...we are so happy to have her as one of our Brides!

How They Met:

"Ross and I met only a year ago! He had just graduated from Texas A&M and decided to go to nursing school in Beaumont, TX (where I'm from and currently live at). As soon as I met Ross I was drawn to him. He's very shy, but he is the most sincere and genuine guy I have ever met. Besides being so sweet to me, he is always concerned and caring about others. I almost knew immediately that this was the man that I wanted to marry. We are so much alike! We are both such goofs, constantly making each other laugh and always up for anything. It's great we are so similar, with one exception, we're so stubborn.... somtimes it's funny, but mostly not."

 The Proposal:

"He proposed in February at my grandpa's 80th birthday celebration. It was a pretty big deal so lots of family and friends were over. He asked me in front of my entire family, and I was COMPLETELY shocked! It was such a sweet moment and was so special for my family to be there and share the moment."

Meet Paulette!

This is Paulette, she is our future Bride for October 20th, 2012!  We came out to her parents home in Dallas, in between working a Wedding one Saturday.  She was super sweet, and I have to say, we get the Prettiest Brides at Carpe Diem, she is just Gorgeous!  She then went out for her Engagement photos with her fiance Kris, and I think they turned out so lovely I wanted to make sure we posted it!

Here is Her Story!

"Kris and I are both currently resident physicians and we met in medical school at Texas Tech in Lubbock, TX almost 5 years ago! Actually, we were anatomy tank buddies which meant we literally met over a dead body haha.  Anyways, I always tell people that we are picture perfect image of "opposites attract." He's part norwegian and German and I'm part chinese, portuguese, and pakistani. He's from a small rural area in texas (henderson) and i'm from a big city (Dallas). He's training in intermal medicine and I'm training for surgery. He's introverted and a great listener, I'm extroverted and chatty as all heck!  But it works out amazingly..I feel that we are opposites in enough things to keep it interesting but similar enough that we have the same moral and ideals for ourselves and our future children - it truly feels as if we compliment each other so well (most of the time =P)!!! A little known fact about Kris is that he's an incredible singer and is a creative genius with composing melodies...he was in a band with his best friends for many years and has a CD out."
How He Proposed!
"He proposed in New York during his birthday weekend!  I had NO idea, it was completely a wonderful surprise!! It was a sweet and simple proposal, which was perfect - we were in our hotel room and suddenly got on one knee and asked and the rest is history."
I can't wait until we get to come back out for her Wedding!  She is doing lighter makeup for the Wedding, along with a beautiful low chignon up-style!   We are very excited!  See you in the fall Paulette!

Bohemian Rhapsody! Just a Fantasy? I Think Not!

Hi All!! So inspired today!  Been doing research for a bride of ours with an Eclectic Bohemian Theme!  I have a confession to make...I realize, I fall in love with different themes of weddings, EASILY!  Working with Brides, and helping them with budgets or an endless budgets, it is all so special when it is personalized!  I have pinning stuff like CRAZY on my Pinterest for DIY Wedding bits! You could literally save so much money personalizing everything, and making your own Wedding Decor down to the hairpieces!  Ah, Hairpieces!! My love!  There is nothing that makes my day brighter when I see a Bride with a Unique Hair Piece to set the perfect Up-Style for her Wedding Day! **Sigh** <3 (it's the little things in life!)

Today, I wanted to touch on my inspiration in Hair Styling, and what I feel is very "IN" at the moment, and was also very popular in 2011, but definitely see a lot more of...BRAIDS!

But not just the little braid across the middle of the head, but a nice, loose, intricate braid or a loose, but intricate style.  Nonetheless, looking loose and effortless, but still giving the "Wow, that's beautiful!" factor!  Best thing for these kind of styles is to make sure you get your Trial Run, and make sure your stylist is on point with the style you LOVE!  Make your fantasy a reality, anything can go with hair if you have enough of it, and if you don't, add some!  Make the Fantasy a Reality!

Here are some awesome styles that have caught my eye the past week, and I decided to post my inspiration!  Hope you like and enjoy!  Thanks for tuning in...

Until Next Time, Bridal Bellas! ;)

Makeup Tip of the Day: Get Rid of Under-Eye Puffiness! Natural Remedies!

Didn't sleep well the night before the wedding?!  Up having too much fun with your bridal party, or you tried for some well-deserved R & R, but the anticipation is keeping you awake?  Keep this in mind if your Wedding Day is around the corner!
Your eyes are usually the first to suffer, and we want those eyes ready for ravishing makeup by the time we show up!!!  Here is the causes of why our eyes tend to puff, and a neat Natural Remedies which I personally love to do!

Good thing puffy eyes is a temporary problem.  As women, we usually suffer from the puff sometimes by hormones, allergies, crying excessively...or in a beaming bride's case, lack of sleep!

Natural Remedies for those Saddle Bags of yours... ;)

Cotton-Ball Soaked in Milk - that's right!  Lactic Acid found in milk is great for reducing swelling under the eye, just place the cotton ball under the eye, leave on for 5 minutes per eye.

The Good Ol' Cold Water Splash!  My favorite to-do in any skin care crisis!  Cold water is awesome for puffy eyes because it increases the blood circulation through veins and gets out excess water from your skin, and will help reduce the swelling!

To Avoid this from happening:  Well, R&R...but if that is out of the question for you, at least turn to whole foods instead of fatty processed take-out and salt in-take should be low.

LOVE this stuff! Definitely something to buy before the Big Nuptials!
